MAY 1, 2020

Attention all NNESL Club Members, Last week the NNESL Board of Directors met and following some thoughtful discussion, came to an agreement that we would wait for the next update from the Governor of New Hampshire prior to updating the status of our spring 2020 season. Since that meeting, US Club Soccer has extended the suspension of play through May 18th which also impacts our decision regarding our Spring season. As you all know we are focused, as are your own individual clubs, on the safety of our players, referees, coaches, families and communities and we appreciate your patience as we have been trying to navigate these waters.

Based on the Governor’s press conference today and the extension of the Stay at Home order, and due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in our region, we have made the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel the Spring 2020 NNESL season.

This was a tough decision, but due to the ongoing uncertainty and inability to guarantee the safety of players as well as the logistical challenges of locking in a window of time to play a reasonable length season and the challenges of school and municipal field availability due to remote learning and community closures, we don’t see a pathway to make the spring season successful.

With all that said, we are not abandoning hope for some soccer for teams and players who feel comfortable, at the appropriate time over the summer, to try and play some games. As an organization we will be exploring the possibility of some organized activity over the summer, provided there is appropriate clearance from state and local health officials.

We would like to know if your club has any teams that may be interested. If you have interest in participating in some level of soccer this summer, please fill out our quick survey by clicking here so we can begin to try and establish what that can look like.

Please spread the word throughout your clubs and organizations, and as always, we thank you for your participation and interest in the Northern New England Soccer League and we can’t wait for the time to come that we can see you all out on the fields! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding this decision, we are always available.

NNESL Technical Resources; Summer League Survey

As a partner of the Northern New England Soccer League, Seacoast United has been working on various initiatives to keep its players active during these difficult times and are happy to share weekly plans with the NNESL member clubs and families. Each weekly plan will be shared via Google Drive, and includes various tips & workouts, as well as videos.

NNESL Technical Resources

The NNESL will also be sharing clips from these videos on our social media accounts. We encourage your players to tag us when posting videos on their own accounts! Please look to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter at @nnesoccerleague.

Also, as we mentioned in a previous announcement, in the event circumstances dictate that we cannot make a spring season work, we would like to establish a list of clubs and teams that may be interested in a summer league with mid-week games to see what we may be able to put together. If your club, or teams from your club, would be interested please enter your information in our Google Form by clicking here.
